Helen Koetitz Buffington, a native of Modesto, passed away at home Monday evening surrounded by her family. Helen is survived by her 3 children, Peggy, Dio, and Tony (Terre), 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grand- children, and 4 great great-grandchildren.
She attended UC Davis until the breakout of WWII when she joined the U.S. Coast Guard Women's Auxillary, serving in San Francisco. She was married at the end of the war and raised her children on a ranch west of Modesto. She was an active member of the Salida Rotary and First Congregational Church. Helen's strength and compassion for others has spread throughout her community and her abundant love for friends and family will be carried on.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the First Congregational Church in Salida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salida Rotary.
