December 25, 1926 - August 23, 2014
Jess Garcia, 87 of Los Banos, Formerly of Modesto, entered into eternal rest on August 23, 2014.  Jess is survived by his wife of 61 years, Violet Garcia, daughters Rachel Caldera, Rebecca Robb, Roxanne Garcia, sons Richard Garcia, Ronald Garcia, Russell Garcia , sisters Ofelia Gonzalez and Lucinda Garcia of Phoenix, Arizona, 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family, he was preceeded in death by his son Randall Garcia.
Jess served in the U. S. Army during the 2nd World War, he then served as a Police Officer in the City of Newman, California for 13 years, he moved to Modesto California where he owned and operated his own Landscaping Business until retirement. He was a professional singer, composer and guitar player.  He loved telling family wonderful stories of his life and the difficulties of his childhood to help them understand that you do not give up on whatever you want to accomplish.  He was a member of Calvary Temple in Modesto for many years. 
Services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014, 9:00 a.m. Viewing followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m. at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel at 419 Scenic Drive, Modesto, Ca. 95397.  He will be laid to rest at 1:30 p.m. at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at 32053 McCabe Road, Santa Nella, Ca. 95322.
