Joe Reis Machado
January 6, 1933 - March 15, 2014
Joe Reis Machado entered into rest of a short illness at English Oaks on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the age of 81.  He was born on January 6, 1933 in Modesto Ca. to his parents Daniel and Maria Machado, and grew up with one sister Roasalie Gomes. He attended Jones School (Westport) and Ceres High School.
Joe enjoyed farming (proudly watching his son carry on the family business) and went on many hunting trips.
Joe is survived by a wonderful family, his wife Dolores Machado, son Joseph "Joey" (Arlene) a daughter Judith "Judy" Roberts (Kevin), five grandchildren, Kalie Machado (Daniel), Kamryn "Kamie" Machado, Andrew Roberts, Keaton Machado and Brandon Roberts.  He also leaves behind Godchildren, brother in laws, sister in laws, nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, many cousins and friends.  He served in the US Army ( a veteran of the Korean War, a chef in a doctor's hospital in Korea), honorary member of the Westport Firefighters Assn. a member of the Old Fisherman's Club, MPPA, and the Stanislaus Farm Bureau.
The family thanks Father Sam West and Deacon Jose A. Reyes of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church for their many visits, also to the doctors and staff at Memorial Hospital in the oncology ward, and to the doctors and staff at English Oaks, to our many neighbors and friends with their caring and prayers.
The family requests with gratitude that any memorial contributions be made in Joe's memory to Westport Firefighter's Association, 5160 S. Carpenter Road,  Modesto, Ca 95358 and the Sisters of the Cross 1320 Maze Blvd, Modesto, Ca 95351.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Franklin and Downs Funeral Home.  There will not be a funeral service in honor of Joe's wishes, only a private Christian burial and final resting committal at St. Stanislaus Cemetery Mausloleum.
