John Sanford Gletne MD

John Sanford Gletne was born in Minneapolis, MN on November 26, 1930 to Agusta & Jalmer "Doc" Gletne. John graduated from South High School in Minneapolis. He was a member of the air national guard and served 2 years active duty in the air force during the Korean conflict in 1950-1952. John attended the University of Minnesota in 1952-1957, earning a BA degree and a BS degree cum-lade, along with an MD degree. John was married in 1952 and had 3 children, Jeffery, David and Laurie. He continued his medical training at Santa Clara County hospital and in 1957 he entered a mostly migrate medical practice in Dos Palos, Calif., where he delivered over 1000 babies. He entered into a second marriage in 1964 to Nydia Bonilla-Howard. He became the step-father to her 5 children, Geneva, Robert, Keith, Glenda and Michelle. In 1965 John and Nydia had a daughter named Jennifer Lynn. In 1966 he moved his entire family to San Francisco where he worked as a resident, a chief resident, and an instructor in the department of radiology at the University of Calif at San Francisco. In 1970, he once again moved his large family to Modesto where he spent the next 35 years practicing, mostly at Doctors Medical Center, as a member of the Downey Park Radiology Medical Group. He also served as a volunteer doctor for the ski patrol at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort for over 30 years. He was a long time contributor and active member of the San Francisco symphony and opera house for over 40 years. The great loves in his life were practicing Medicine, the Arts, Lake Tahoe, and his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his entire family. He was preceded in death by daughters Geneva Howard and Jennifer Lynn Gletne. He is survived by his sister Lois Olsen of Reno, NV, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. John Gletne entered into rest on May 14, 2013. His interment was held at Trails End Cemetery in Tahoe City, Calif.
