Mary Moss
September 7, 1923 - August 12, 2013
Mary Moss passed away August 12th, 2013 at the age of 89 in her home in Cameron Park, Ca. Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Mary received her Bachelors Degree in Sociology from UCLA and continued on to receive a Masters Degree in Speech and Hearing from Stanislaus State University. She married Sandy Moss, December 30th, 1959 in Carson City, Nevada. They spent many happy years on their almond ranch in Escalon, Ca.
Mary loved her careers as an English Teacher and as a Speech Therapist at Dent Elementary. After retirement she continued to dedicate her time to helping others and received recognition for her many hours of service with Haven's Women Center in Modesto. She was active in AAUW and local arts organizations. She enjoyed nature, art, travelling, reading, tennis, crossword puzzles, gardening and mostly, spending time with family and friends.
Mary was born in Heflin, Alabama on Sept 7, 1923 to Hazel and Dexter Jackson. Mary is survived by her husband, Sandy Moss, her two daughters, Robyn McNelly and Kristi McNelly and her granddaughter Nicole Scheunemann.
The memorial service will be held on September 28th at 2pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 2172 Kiernan Ave., Modesto, Ca. Reception to follow. Mary's ashes will be laid to rest in Burwood Cemetery, Escalon.
