Michael David Cook
June 23, 1945 - June 24, 2014
Michael David Cook passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on June 24, 2014. Michael was born in Modesto, California on June 23, 1945 to Stanley and Betty Jean Cook who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years Mary O'Brien Cook, sons Kenneth (Vicki) of Fresno, Stanley (Shelley) of San Diego, daughters Michelle Stice (Howard) of Modesto, and Tricia Cook of Parowan, UT. In addition, he is survived by nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters Debbi Fries (David), and Cindi Cook of Modesto, Uncle Sidney Losher Jr. (Donnie) of Modesto, and Aunt Virginia Britton (Rocky) of Hathaway Pines.
He attended school in Modesto and was a member of the first graduating class from Grace M. Davis High School in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He then went to work for Foster Farms retiring in 2004.
Michael was an avid fisherman and hunter which enthusiasm has been passed on to his sons and grandchildren. He was a member of VFW Post #3199, the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2143 and the California Striped Bass Association.
He has been relieved of his watch to assume duties with the Lord. May he have fair winds and smooth sailings. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge 126 Camilla Way Modesto, CA. He will be interned at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery at Santa Nella on July 7, 2014 at 12:30 PM.
