Neil Jay Cupp
Dec 25, 1925 - May 28, 2014
Born Christmas Day 1925 to Glen and Betty Cupp in Empire, CA. He passed away at his home after a hard fought battle with Parkinson' s Disease. Married to Arlene Cooney Cupp for 68 years they had an enduring partnership of love. He was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law, sister Jean Murray and brother "Buck"  Cupp.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Arlene two children Michael Cupp and Glenda McClune (Vic), 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, sister Dorleece Hill and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He grew up in Empire with many loving cousins, family and friends. Graduated from Empire Union Grammar School, attended Modesto High School. He joined the US Army Air Corps in 1943, attended Creighton University and graduated as a flight officer. He was honorably discharged at the end of WWII. Became a  journeyman carpenter in Modesto, eventually establishing a family construction business, Cupp Construction Company which he operated for 25 years. He was active with the Empire Lions Club and the Stanislaus  Contractor's Association, becoming president of each organization. He was a faithful member of the Empire Church of the Brethren. He and Arlene enjoyed serving as youth counsellors for several years. He had many talents and interests; he and Arlene traveled the US and the world. He loved aviation and was a private pilot. His yard and garden were spectacular.
There will be no service at this time and burial will be private at the National Veterans Cemetery in Santa Nella. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Empire Church of the Brethren, P.O. Box 215, Empire, CA  95319.
