Patricia "Patti" Alma Jones
October 3, 1952 - April 3, 2014
Patricia (Patti) Alma Jones, 61, of Salida, California went home to be with her Lord on April 3, 2014 surrounded by friends and loved ones. She grew up in Yakima, Washington and later moved to Sequim, Washington with her parents Doris and George Leadon and brother, Joseph. She attended Washington State University, where she met her husband Gus Jones. They lived in Kennewick, Washington until moving to California in 1987. In 1990, Patti started teaching elementary school in the Manteca School District. In 1997, the family moved to Texas where she studied at Texas Christian University in Education Leadership. Patti moved back to California in 2000 and has been a beloved member of the community ever since. She treasured trips to Pinecrest Lake with friends and was adored by her grandchildren. She has been a faithful friend to her sisters at Big Valley Grace Community Church and Shelter Cove Community Church, as well as a dedicated elementary school teacher in the Manteca School District. She was most recently teaching the fifth grade at Golden West Elementary School before becoming ill. Patti will be remembered by those who love her for a generous spirit and great big smile! Patti is survived by her son, Derek Jones, daughter-in-law Katie, two granddaughters Anna and Lauren, as well as her brother Joseph, his wife Millie and nieces Mary and Nicky and nephews Barry and Kurt. Patti is also survived by her beloved dog, Precious. A celebration of life will take place at Shelter Cove Community Church on May 3 at 11 am. The Jones family is incredibly grateful to all those who gave of their time and themselves to make Patti's final months as peaceful and loving as possible. Your selfless giving is a testament to the incredible friendships you shared. In life, Patti was a caring and generous person. In lieu of flowers, please make any memorial donations to one of Patti's favorite charities: Community Hospice or Golden West Elementary School, Manteca Science Camp (Patti loved going to science camp every year with her students).
