Vito Joseph Bica was born Sept 24, 1921 in San Jose to Mariano "Mike" Bica and Pauline Bica. He peacefully went to sleep on May 19, 2014.
At a dance in San Jose in 1940 he met Martha G. Soares, the love of his life. They were married in late 1942. Vito worked as a machinist until he joined the Navy and served bravely through the end of WWII. Two sons were born and the family later moved to Modesto. There Vito had a long and successful career as a master carpenter. Vito proudly was a member of the Carpenter's Union for 65 years! He was a very talented man with many friends, as well as a faithful Catholic. Martha died in 1978 after a brave battle against cancer.
In 1980 Vito married again, to Joanne Anderson. They were content together for 20 years, until her death.
Also preceded in death were Vito's sister, Rosemary, her husband, George and Vito's brother, Gus. Surviving is Vito's sister, Carol, her husband, Ray, and 1 niece and 1 nephew.
Also surviving are sons Gus Bica, (wife Roberta), and Daryl Bica, (companion Karen), Daryl's daughter Kelly and grandson Peron, 1 stepdaughter and family and 1 stepson.
The  Bica  family  wishes to thank the staff at Bethel Assisted Living for Vito's care. Also, for the past 2.5 years Vito received loving, individual care from Golden Age, Marinela and especially Leto and Nanette, our gratitude to them.
Visitation at Salas Brothers, 4-8pm on Thurs., May 29. Graveside service Fri., May 30, 11am at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery on Scenic Dr., Modesto. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
