William (Bill) Huston Humble
August 26, 1931 - July 21, 2014
William (Bill) Humble, resident of Modesto for many decades, beloved family patriarch and friend to all left our world July 21, 2014 after a valiant fight.
William was born an only child in Pryor, Oklahoma. William's parents moved the family to California after the Great Depression in 1941 where William attended Grammar School in Hayward and High School in Visalia. In 1952 William was drafted into the United States Army, serving two years active duty and five years reserve, including deployment to Europe in support of the Korean War.
After returning from service, William met and married his wife of 60 years, Helen Humble on New Year's Eve 1955, staying devoted to her until his passing.
William worked from 1956 to the mid 1990's as a truck driver for many San Joaquin Valley businesses including Southern Pacific Railroad.
William was a devoted family man, loved by all. His kind nature and love for his fellow man were traits he passed down through all generations of his family. Those he met will never forget the kindness of his voice, the sparkle in his eye and his beaming smile. William was a modest man; never complaining and wanting only happiness and prosperity for everyone.
William was a member of The House Church Congregation and Knowing The Word ministry for many years. His devotion to Jesus Christ, the Church and the teachings of the Gospel were important to what made William such a great man.
William is predeceased by his parents Huston Humble and Hazel Bell. He is survived by his wife, Helen Humble. His surviving children are Rebecca Pfaff of Penngrove, Steven (John) Humble of Oakdale and Michael (Mike) Humble of Hilmar. William was loved by a very extensive family, including 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
