Dr. Erskine S. Murray, 90, a resident of Montgomery, passed away on August 3, 2013 of natural causes. He was born in Walker County to the late Dempsey and Velma Murray. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty G. Murray, originally of Bridgeport, AL; a son, Ron (Jan); a daughter, Denise; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister. Dr. Murray earned a doctorate of Education from Auburn University and was the former Assistant State Superintendent of Education for Alabama. He served in WWII in the US Army 23rd HQ Special Troops. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 10 -11 a.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with funeral services following in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
