Marzella, Lawrence D. "Larry", age 92, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Mr. Marzella was preceded in death by his first wife, Rossie L. Marzella and a daughter, Sandra M. Beasley. He is survived by his wife, Sable Spivey Marzella ; a son, Don N. Marzella; step-daughter, Kelley Maltby; grandchildren, Bubba (Nicole) Beasley, Valle M.(John) Cox, Dominic (Leslie) Marzella, Joseph Marzella and Henry Grant; great-grandchildren, Christina, Alec, Eloise and Emmett. Mr. Marzella owned AESCO Steel Corp. He was past Potentate, Alcazar Shrine Temple, 33 Degree Mason, Scottish & York Rite Member. Mr. Marzella was a member of Landmark Church of Christ. He served in the United States Army during WWII, serving under General George Patton, 2nd Armored Division. During this time he was the recipient of the following awards; Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge, 2 Purple Hearts, 7 Campaign Stars and British Gallantry Medal. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel from 11:30 until 1:00 pm Saturday, January 18, 2014, with funeral services starting at 1:00 pm with Ministers Bubby Bell and Cecil Spear officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Montgomery Civitan Club and Military Order of Purple Heart. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, C/O Alcazar Temple, 555 Eastern Blvd. Montgomery, AL. or .
