CLARK, John GERALD Holliday
Passed away on Monday, January 13th. He was born in Beckenham, Kent, UK on December 30, 1933 only son of Jack and Hilda Clark. He served in the Korean conflict as a second lieutenant in the British Royal Fusiliers. He attended Oxford University but went on to work for Alcan Aluminum (now a division of Rio Tinto) prior to completing his degree. He spent his entire career with Alcan, starting in Banbury, Oxfordshire moving on to head office in Montreal, with postings in Buenos Aires, Geneva and Rio de Janeiro during his storied career. He attended the advanced management program at Harvard University in the middle 1970s.
Gerald was a life long avid golfer. He played for many years at Whitlock Golf & Country Club and Mount Bruno Country Club. During his retirement in the late 1990s, he had the privilege to be the President of the Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Minke, sons and daughters- in-law Paul and Lucia (Boxford, MA), Colin and Denise (Vancouver), Julian and Loraine (New York, NY), and Andrew and Sarah (Vancouver), nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, a sister and brother in-law Audrey and Arnold Butler (Brentwood, Essex, UK) and numerous nieces and nephews.
We will all dearly miss this amazing man. His wisdom, kindness and generosity, patience and modesty will continue to inspire generations that follow.
The family suggests memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society or any charity of your choice.
