Eleanor T. Gagliardo Obituary
Eleanor T. Gagliardo Born: Aug. 27, 1918; Essex, IL Died: Feb. 3 2014; Morris, IL Eleanor T. Gagliardo, age 95, of Coal City, passed away February 3, 2014 at the Morris Hospital following a brief illness. Eleanor Palazzini, the youngest of five siblings was born August 27, 1918 in rural Essex to Louis and Alice (Petroni) Palazzini. She attended a one room grade school and graduated from Gardner High School in 1936. She married Leonard Gagliardo March 29, 1941 in Reddick and resided in Essex, operating Clover Farm Grocery Store (across the street from Perk 's), until moving to Coal City in 1949. Eleanor was a life time career woman selling Prudential Insurance, working in clothing factories in Braidwood and Coal City, doctor 's assistant for the late Dr. Viteri, production inspector for Uniroyal and finally finding a passion for selling real estate. She was a Realtor/Broker for 36 years starting with Hay 's Realty and eventually owning and operating Preferred Realty before retiring in 2006. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends to Alaska, Hawaii, Jerusalem, and Italy where she met with her cousins and extended family members, and also enjoyed playing euchre, and dining out. She was a member of the St. Mary 's Assumption Church, and past member of the Ladies VFW, Women of the Moose, and Will and Grundy Association of Realtors. Surviving are her three sons, Norman (Marietta) of Milan Ill, AJ (Janis), and Brian (Diane) of Coal City; grandchildren, Kyle (Candice), Karen (Bobbie Tebben), Clay, Aron, Jill, Marc (Shirley), Michael (Mary), and Jason (Devan) Gagliardo; and six great grandchildren, Grant, Evan, Keegan, Zachery, Addison, and Mick. Preceding her in death were her parents, Louis and Alice; husband, Leonard (1983); brothers, Paul (Francis) and Telio (Florence) Palazzini; sisters, Vera (Russell) Gall, and Ida (Joseph) Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Heritage Manor and Morris Hospital for all the kindness, compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grundy County Community Foundation, Unit #1 Educational Foundation, or the donor 's choice. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at The Ferrari Funeral Chapel (corner of spring rd and Ferrari Dr.) in Coal City . Father Robert Noesen will officiate with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Braidwood, IL .
