Amos Edward Mawbey Jr., 94, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Edward, as he was affectionately known, was born in Perth Amboy, and was a lifelong resident. Edward served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy, where he was a Pearl Harbor survivor serving aboard the U.S.S. Solace as Chief Machinist. After leaving the Navy, Edward worked at Chevron as a Supervisor remaining there until his retirement. He was a parishioner of First Presbyterian Church in Perth Amboy.
Edward is survived by his loving wife Regina (Mikolajczak) Mawbey of Perth Amboy; niece Jerrilyn Heller; nephews Anthony Tagliareni, Peter Barich, Franklin Barich, and Douglas Mawbey; grand-niece Leslie Jenkins; grand-nephew John Heller; cousins Elizabeth Dzbenski, Debbie and Ray Forziati, and Linda and Bill Eckman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 16 from 3-7pm at Zylka Funeral Home, 513-515 State Street, Perth Amboy. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 17 beginning with prayers at the funeral home at 10:30am. A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Perth Amboy at 11:00am, followed by entombment at Clover Leaf Cemetery in Woodbridge.
