Charles "Booth" Harris of Monroe Twp., NJ died on Saturday, May 4, 2013, on his 90th birthday at the Princeton University Medical Center in Plainsboro, NJ. Born in Arlington, VA, he formerly lived in Washington, DC, New Brunswick, and Somerset, NJ, before moving to Monroe. He was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was formerly a bail bondsman and also worked at the U.S. Department of Printing and Engraving in D.C. In later years, he was employed at Anderson Funeral Service, New Brunswick and Trenton; Revlon, Inc. in Edison, NJ; and Charles of the Ritz, Inc., in Holmdel, NJ. Mr. Harris was a member of the American Legion, Star Post #127 in Jamesburg and the VFW Post #262, Monroe Twp. He was formerly a member of the Sharon Baptist Church in New Brunswick.
He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Mary Harris; 7 siblings, Francis Harris, James "Oliver" Harris, and Richard Harris, Inez Butler, Margaret Turner, Mary Bray, and Barbara "Babs" Anderson. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Constance Harris; his daughter, Carla Harris; nephews and nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Anderson Funeral Service, 201 Sandford St., New Brunswick. American Legion honors will be conducted at 2:00pm, followed by Celebration of Life Service at 3:00pm at the funeral home.
