Charles P. Rehberger Sr.

AGE: 80 • Sayreville

Charles P. Rehberger Sr., 80 years, of the Morgan section of Sayreville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Bartley Healthcare, Jackson. Born in Union, he resided in Sayreville for the past 56 years. Mr. Rehberger retired in 1988 as a Regional Coordinator for the New Jersey Division of Motor Vehicles. Prior to his 32-year career with the state, he worked for GAF in Linden and served as a carpenter's apprentice with J. Hoffart Carpentry in Union. After his retirement, he worked in the mailroom and as a security guard for Amerada Hess in Woodbridge. Mr. Rehberger was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Sayreville Senior Citizens Wednesday Club, Sayreville Knights of Columbus Council 2061 and Motor Vehicle Employee Retirement Association. He was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in South Amboy, where he was a member of the Senior Citizens Club and Sacred Heart Catholic War Veterans.

He is predeceased by his wife, Mildred, in 2010; his brothers, John, Frank, Paul, and Stephen Rehberger; and his sisters, Margaret Leary and Ann Mazur. Surviving are his sons and their wives, Charles and Kathleen Rehberger Jr. of South River, and Stephen and Bernadette Rehberger of Jackson; his daughter, Camille Thomas and her fiancée Al Muzer of Toms River; his grandson, Charles P. Rehberger III of South River; and his brother, Joseph and his wife, Betsy Rehberger of Kenilworth; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 17 at the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, June 18 from the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a.m. mass at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, South Amboy, with entombment to follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Charles' name be made to Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund, South Amboy, N.J.
