Daniel W. Frascella Jr. passed away suddenly on Sunday, June. 22, 2012. He was 79. Born to Daniel Frascella Sr. & Jennie Frascella, Daniel lived in Bound Brook most of his life before moving to Hunterdon County in 1986, where he resided till his passing. He met the love of his life, Mary P. Frascella, in the 5th grade, marrying her in 1956. They were married 55 years when Mary passed away. Daniel entered the U.S. Navy in 1952, serving aboard the U.S.S. Antietam (CV-36) carrier during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge. Daniel entered& graduated Rutgers College of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Science - Magna Cum Laude (1956-1960), Rutgers University Graduate School (Master's Degree; Physiology, Pathology & Related Sciences), & finally Rutgers The State University, awarded a PhD. Physiology & Biochemistry.

Daniel pursued his life's passion for learning & teaching as assistant professor at Rutgers University, St. John's University & City University Staten Island (1960's & 1970's), and while researching at Carter Wallace, Merck and University of Pennsylvania in the 1960's. He then was Associate Director at Hoechst-Roussel Pharm. Inc. from 1975 to 1996. Upon retirement, he founded the consulting group Diabetalogics Inc… He was awarded the Education Award California Pharmaceutical Association (1985) and H.A.B. Dunning award (1986) for pharmacy excellence. He was associated with the American Diabetes Association, American Association of Physiology, FASEB, American Zoological Society, American Pharmaceutical Association, American Chemical Society; Fellow, American College of Pharmacology; Fellow, Royal Society of Medicine; American Association of Diabetes Educators; American Society of the History of Pharmacy, Sigma Xi, The Scientific Society: The New York Society of Sciences, The New Jersey Society of Sciences and member of the American Legion & San Fele Society.

Daniel's personal interests included jazz & classical music, baseball (Stan Musial his childhood hero), collecting, reading books especially history, Bound Brook history as well as spending time with friends & family. He also cared for many cats & terrier dogs over the years. Daniel was a scientist, author, historian, a patriot who loved his country & he found the most joy in teaching & inspiring people to seek the gift of learning. He leaves this great legacy to his children, grandchildren & so many others. He was a hard working, kind, caring & generous man. A good friend who will be sadly missed by all.

Daniel was a devoted husband, loving father & wonderful grandfather. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Mary P. Frascella (2012) & brother, Sebastian Frascella (1980). He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his sons Daniel Frascella & wife Cynthia of Washington; Thomas Frascella & wife Patricia of Middlesex; daughter Nancy Thomson & husband Robert of Virginia Beach, Va.; grandchildren Sean Thomson, Kit Frascella, Lauren Frascella, Shannon Frascella & Veronica Thomson; as well as dear friend, Barbara Greggo, of Pen Argyl, PA..

Visiting hours will be held from 2-4 and 7-9PM on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main St., Bridgewater 08807. Prayers will be said 9AM on Friday, June 27, 2014 at the funeral home followed by a 10 AM Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Annandale. Entombment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Annandale. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Hubert's animal shelter, Box 159, Madison 07940.
