Dorothy Ann Van Deursen

Mrs. Dorothy Van Deursen passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the age of 68. She was born in Montclair to Henry Skorupski and Stephania Kruszewski. She attended Roxbury High School and was a graduate of Trenton State College in 1968. She was a school teacher in Stanton, CA from 1969-1970 but moved back to New Jersey where she taught in the Roxbury School system until 1974. She married and moved to Somerset in 1972. Mrs. Van Deursen taught at St. Peter Elementary School in New Brunswick until retirement.
Mrs. Van Deurson was pre-deceased by her parents, Henry and Stephania Skorupski and her brother, Henry Skorupski Jr. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Donald Van Deursen; two daughters, Donna Umgelter and her husband Alan, Amy Albrecht and her husband Spencer; her son, Steven Van Deurson and his wife Dineen and her six grandchildren, Hunter, Ethan, Shane, Addison, Olivia, and Evan.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset. Services will begin at 8:30 AM on Thursday at the Gleason Funeral Home followed by a 9 AM funeral mass at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church in New Brunswick. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Somerset. Contributions in Mrs. Van Deursen's name may be made to the East Millstone First Aid Squad, PO Box 2008, East Millstone, NJ 08875.
