Elder John E. Schenk

AGE: 91 • South Plainfield

Elder John E. Schenk, 91, passed May 13, 2013 at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. Born in Somerville, NJ, he was a resident of South Plainfield for over 61 years. He was a Black Seal Boiler Operator for American Cyanamid for over 30 years. Elder Schenk was a veteran in the US Navy served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Elder Schenk was a faithful servant with the Upper Room Gospel Curch where he served as a Deacon and Chairman of the Deacon Board. He help found the Shield of Faith ministries together with Pastor Darryl & Pastor Howard as well as becoming the Elder in the church.

Elder Schenk was predeceased by his wife Josephine V. Schenk, his parents John O. Schencks & Ida Mae Hall and son in-law Willie Esaw. He is survived by sons John O. (Elaine) and James R. (Eileen), his daughter Joann Esaw his brother Eugene Hall, his sister Gloria Bonds, his aunt Dorothy Brooks, 20-grandchildren, 27-great grandchildren, 3-great, great grandchildren.

Service: Saturday, May 18, 2013, 9AM, at Rose of Sharon, 825 West 7th Street, Plainfield, Visitation: Friday, May 17, 2013, 7PM-9PM at the Church
