Ernest Dubay of the Columbus section of Mansfield Township passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. He was 88 years old. Born in Woodbridge, he resided there until moving to Columbus in 1990. Mr. Dubay served in the United States Navy as a Pharmacist 3rd Class during World War II. Mr. Dubay was a 1943 graduate of Woodbridge High School where he was later inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame, and received his bachelor degree from Panzer College, and his master's degree from Rutgers University. He was employed with the Woodbridge Township School district where he served as principal at Lynn Crest School #22, Indiana Avenue School #18 and Woodbine Avenue School #23 before retiring in 1989. While serving as a principal he started the Elementary School Track program which was later named after him. He was a communicant of Saint Andrews Catholic Church in Mount Holly and a former communicant of Saint James Catholic Church in Woodbridge. Mr. Dubay was a founder of Clara Barton Little League in Fords; and was an avid dancer, serving as an instructor for many adult dance classes, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Woodbridge Township Education Association and the NJ Education Association; and a former councilman in Mansfield Township.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy, in 1999; a grandson Jacob; two sisters Julia and Lillian; and four brothers Steven, Julius, Andrew and John. He is survived by a daughter, Kim Hanley, of Winter Garden, FL; two sons, Mark Dubay of Orlando, FL and Todd Dubay and his wife, Tara, of Woodbridge; a sister, Mary Vasquez, of Toms River; and six grandchildren Steven, Kathleen, Anthony, Stephanie, Conner and Spencer.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. from Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (www.costello-greiner.com), 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue, Woodbridge. A Mass of Resurrection will follow at 9:00 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Woodbridge. Interment will be private at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Park, Wrightstown. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
