Frederick L. Perl, M.D., 85, died April 2, 2013. Frederick Perl was born in Bound Brook, NJ, and raised in Somerville, and formerly of Bridgewater, before moving to Somerset in 2003. He established his successful medical private practice in 1957 in Bound Brook which became known as Perl, Strausfeld and Kasper. His practice merged to become Somerset OB/GYN Associates in Bridgewater and most recently he was associated with Women's Health Care of Warren. He also served on staff at Somerset Medical Center for over 56 years where he was certified in obstetrics and gynecology and served as chair of the credentials committee from 1979-2002 and staff president from 1976-1977. Dr. Perl graduated in 1947 from Rutgers University with a BS degree and from Chicago Medical School in 195. He was a veteran of the Us Air Force serving as captain during the Korean War. He was a member of Temple Sholom in Bridgewater where he was chairman of the building fund committee. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Sheila Perl, daughters, Maurie Perl and Meredith Kornreich and her husband Jim and three grandchildren, Todd, Jennifer and Maggie.
Funeral services will be 12 noon Friday at Temple Sholom, 594 North Bridge St. Bridgewater. Interment will follow at Temple Sholom Cemetery in Bridgewater. Arrangements by the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 No. Gaston Ave. Somerville.
