Gloria Mascenik, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2014 in her Montville home surrounded by family.
The funeral will take place Friday 8:45am at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 1225 Green St. and Cooper Ave., Iselin followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, 420 Inman Ave, Colonia. Interment is in at St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Born in Perth Amboy, Gloria grew up in Fords and graduated from Woodbridge High School. She then went on to Rider University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in education. Employed by the Township of Woodbridge Board of Education, Gloria was an elementary school teacher, primarily at the Lynn Crest School, for 35 years while residing in Colonia for nearly half a century. Gloria is predeceased by her parents Eugene and Joseph Samonek, her husband of 36 years Robert Mascenik, and her beloved sons Robert J. and Brian. Family members who will remember her dearly are her daughter Melody Wenger, her daughter-in-law Kathy Mascenik-Osman, her sister Dolores Leigh and husband Douglas, her brother-in-law John and wife Dorothy, her five cherished grandchildren David, Jacqueline, Michael, Elizabeth, and Matthew, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gloria was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed camping, golfing, and skiing in the Poconos.
