AGE: 81 • Kendall Park

Joel John Forbes passed away on Sunday, February 23rd, 2014 at the Pavilions at Forrestal. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to parents Harry and Anna Forbes and moved to Kendall Park, New Jersey in 1961. Joel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and an MP stationed in Germany. He was an active communicant of St. Augustine of Canterbury Church where he served as an usher for forty-five years. Joel was a Charter Member of the Knights of Columbus, a Fourth Degree Knight, Past Grand Knight and District Deputy. Many from the South Brunswick community will remember Joel from his involvement in youth and adult sports organizations. He was Boys Little League baseball commissioner, a co-founder of South Brunswick's first Girl's softball league and first Women's softball league. Joel was an avid golfer, card player and Charter Member of the BPOE Elks. He especially loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Joel was a dedicated Electrical Engineer until he retired in 1994 from GPU Nuclear Corporation.

Joel was predeceased by a son Timothy. Joel is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Forbes née Finegan, four children, Scott (Jill) Forbes, Joel T. (Debbie) Forbes, Dana (Ray) O'Brien and Kelly (Mark) Wetter and nine grandchildren; Madeline Forbes, Timothy, Michael, and Madison Forbes, Daniel, Clint, and Carly O'Brien, Devon and Ryan Wetter.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at 10:15 A.M. at St. Augustine of Canterbury Church, 45 Henderson Road, Kendall Park, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association www.lbda.org.
