AGE: 74 • formerly of South River
John William Pientka, 74, passed away, unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013. He was born on March 26, 1939 in South River, New Jersey. John is predeceased by his parents, Anna and John Pientka, sister, Barbara and his wife, Elizabeth. John moved to Central New York, where he met and married his wife, Elizabeth Mae Rinaldi. John served in the Navy for 6 years. Over the years, he worked at Oswego Castings, Oberdorfer foundries, and Rollway bearing, CRW. He also worked and retired as a part-time Town of Clay Police Officer. Known as the "Polish Prince" to many, John was a 19 year volunteer fireman with the Moyers Corners Fire Department. John was also a member of the Moyers Corners Sports Club until he moved to Florida for retirement.
John came from a large family and is survived by his siblings, Margaret Johnson, Jeanne Jackson, Marion Day, William Pientka, Betty Moore, and Carol Thompson. John is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, AnnMarie and Thomas Webster of Volney, Judy and Steven Hoyt of Cato, and Christine and Jeffrey Reid of Florida. Also his precious grandchildren, Ashley Corsette of Clay, Kasyn and Karly Reid of Florida.
A spring 2014 Burial is planned at the Monumental Cemetery, South River, New Jersey. Date to be announced.
