Mr. Joseph DiGloria, "Nonno" as his family knows him, passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2013. He was 94 years old. Born in Brooklyn, NY to Vincent and Josephine DiGloria, Joseph lived in New Brunswick before settling in North Brunswick 55 years ago. Mr. DiGloria served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II. During his 38 month deployment to the South Pacific, he received numerous citations, including the Bronze Star. He later retired after a long career at Bristol Myers Squibb in New Brunswick. He was an active member of the North Brunswick Republican Party, John Basilone Sons of Italy, VFW Post 2319, and was a proud charter member of and former Veteran Service Officer for American Legion Post 459. A deeply patriotic man, Joseph DiGloria was proud to be named 2013 Veteran of the Year in North Brunswick. Nonno loved hunting, fishing, and trips to Atlantic City.
Mr. DiGloria was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette, in 2009. He is survived by his children, Josephine Tallman and her husband Bob of Florida, and Vincent DiGloria and his wife Cathi of Ireland; grandchildren, Patrick Reagan and wife Diane of Hewitt, Colleen Jones and husband Tony of New Brunswick, Michael Reagan and wife Natalie of Robbinsville, Christen DiGloria of Virginia Beach, and Aaron DiGloria and wife Kenda of Memphis, TN; and by his 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., Somerset, NJ 08873. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30am Friday at St. Peter the Apostle Church in New Brunswick. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in East Brunswick.
