Kenneth Charles Philpot passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point. He was 77 years old. Born in Newark, he resided in the Iselin section of Woodbridge Township for many years before moving to Marmora, NJ 20 years ago.

A 1956 graduate of East Side High School in Newark, he proudly served for 4 years in the United States Navy, 3 of which were aboard the USS Randolph CVA-15. After being recruited and working for the Newark Police Department for 5 years, he was hired by the Woodbridge Township Police Department, where he worked for 25 years before retiring as a detective in 1986. Mr. Philpot was a member of Local #38 of the Policeman's Benevolent Association, Woodbridge. In retirement, he enjoyed hiking, baseball, golf, biking and spending time with old friends including Jack, Jim, Captain Morgan and the Miller Family in Casa Grande, Arizona.

He is predeceased by his mother, Jennie Reitz Philpot, father, Emerson Philpot and brothers, Gary, Nelson and Allen Philpot. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Bonnie O'Neil Philpot; daughters, Jill Philpot Boethig and her husband, Carsten, Gwen Philpot Donlan and Kim Philpot Chase and her husband, Bob; grandchildren Jennie, Joshua, Lacey, Bridget, Kort and Ava; and siblings Donald Philpot and his wife, Martha, Audrey Duncan and her husband, Bill, Bob Philpot and his wife, Susan, Cookie Jones and her husband, Lew, and Richard Philpot and his wife, Mag; sister-in-laws, Patty and Stacey Philpot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, February 15 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Costello-Greiner Funeral Home (, 44 Green Street at Barron Avenue in Woodbridge. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Beacon Animal Rescue (, 701 Butter Road, Ocean View, NJ 08230.
