PRISCILLA J. BEAUPRÉ BOHRER died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Monroe Village Health Care. She was 90. Born at home in Holyoke, MA, she was the 2nd child of Dr. Dolor I. and Lillian Beaupré. She married James C. Bohrer in 1949. They resided in East Brunswick for 35 years before moving to Monroe Township in 1999.
Mrs. Bohrer received her BA (1943) and MA (1945) in Organic Chemistry and graduated with Honors, Magna Cum Laude, from Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, MA and went on to be a Teaching Assistant at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA from 1945 to 1947.
A devoted mother, she stayed at home for 25 years to raise her five children. After that she went back to work in 1974 at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Department of Anatomy at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, until her retirement in 1987. Mrs. Bohrer was a Communicant of St. Bartholomew RC Church in East Brunswick, where she served as past president of the Altar Rosary Society, a member of the choir, the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Small Faith Community, was a lector/reader and assisted with Pre Cana. She was also involved with the Metuchen Oratory of St. Philip Neri.
Mrs. Bohrer served as past president of the East Brunswick Board of Education and the Memorial School PTA. Her community involvement included the League of Women Voters and the Women's Club. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting and baking. Her passion for baking earned her a blue ribbon at the Middlesex County Fair for her almond filled danish. She was famous for her raspberry jam and Linzer torte.
She was predeceased by her husband, James, in 2011, and her son, Mark, in 2010. Surviving are three daughters: Jeanne Bozzay and her husband Robert of Piscataway, Christine Meckfessel of Plano, TX and MaryEmily Bohrer of Dayton; a son William Bohrer and his partner Tom Parker of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren: Sarah Diehl, Laura Bozzay, Matthew and Andrew Meckfessel and Justin, Heather, Brian Bohrer and John Bohrer and one great grandchild Kaden Meckfessel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:45 AM in The BRUNSWICK MEMORIAL HOME, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, followed by a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bartholomew RC Church, East Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. For directions please visit (www.brunswickmemorialhome.com).
