Robert B. Eustace, 83, died June 18, 2013. Bob was born in New York, NY, and formerly of Manalapan, Westfield, and Middlesex before moving to Somerset in 2004. He was employed as a banker for Chase Bank in New York City and National Newark and Essex Bank, Newark, and then as a Vice President/ Senior Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch, Westfield, retiring in 1998 after 40 years in the financial industry. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Bob was a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Somerville, where he sang in the choir. He was a proud member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians, recently serving as a board member. He was a founding member of the Knights of Columbus in Englishtown. In his spare time he enjoyed volunteering at the Lyons VA Hospital, going to the movies, and reading. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packers and Dodgers fan. Bob will always be remembered as a proud Irishman who enjoyed singing Irish songs and telling jokes. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Surviving are his wife, Claire; daughters, Maureen E. Mclaughlin and son-in-law, Bryan, Susan E. Regan and son-in-law, Mark, Ellen Eustace; step-daughter, Crystal Heart; son, Robert P., and step-son, Glenn Reisner and his wife Audrey; brother, Maurice; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Visitation will be 6-9 pm Friday, June 21st at the Bruce C. VanArsdale Funeral Home, 111 N. Gaston Ave., Somerville. Prayers will be at 8:30 am Saturday, at the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Somerville. Donations to Habitat for Humanity International, 121 Habitat Street, Americus, GA 31709-3498 will be gratefully accepted in lieu of flowers.
