Rowena "Winnie" (Berk) Feist died at the age of 89 on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Winnie was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, Harold Feist, who she first met in the fifth grade. Winnie graduated from High School at the young age of 16, and earned her Bachelor's degree from New York University. Winnie was a teacher in the Colonia, NJ public schools for 38 years. A New Yorker by birth, Winnie moved to Colonia in 1956 where she lived until she moved to Monroe Twp. in 1998. Winnie loved playing Scrabble with her friends, and is remembered for doing the New York Times crossword puzzle each week, in ink. She also enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, going to the theater and traveling. She was a member of Hadassah. She was very active in several social and discussion groups-from her book group to current events at the Greenbriar at Whittingham retirement community.
She is survived by daughters, Marcia Feist-Moore (Bruce Moore) and Lynn Feist (Steve Nossen); grandchildren, Rachel Moore, Eric Moore (J.D. Brown), Kate Moore, Michael Nossen (Cindy Nossen), Jay Nossen and two great-grandchildren, Harvey and Zachary Nossen.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m. at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, New Brunswick, NJ. Contributions may be made to the
