Rev. Wayne Nelson Hadley, 93, of Red Bank, NJ, died peacefully the morning of Monday, Nov. 26, 2012. He was born in Buffalo, NY to Bert and Ruth Oyer Hadley. The Reverend earned his BS degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan. He then obtained his Masters in Divinity from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Later, Wayne received an honorary doctorate also from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in recognition of his outstanding work and humanitarian aide in missions of Haiti. He spent over 60 years ministering within the American Baptist denomination, spending 29 of those years as Pastor of Somerville Baptist Church in Somerville, NJ. Most recently Wayne was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Red Bank, NJ. In Anthony Campolo's words "He was a good man, he was a just man and because of him many have entered the Kingdom."
He was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Lawrence and Elbert; his beloved son, Lawrence Hamilton Hadley in 2007 and in February of this year, his dedicated wife of 69 years, Virginia Jominy Hadley. Rev. Hadley is survived by his son, Ronald Alan and wife Darla of Randolph, NJ; daughters, Christine and husband Fr. David Laquintano of Ocean City, NJ and Karen Virginia and husband, Jerome HadleyDike of Grand Lake, CO; his daughter-in-law, Linda B. Hadley of Dayton, OH; 12 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1st at 11am at The First Baptist Church, Somerville, NJ. Interment will be private.
