Melinda Waldroop TULIA - Melinda Howell "Sis" Waldroop, 57, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m. today, Nov. 4, 2012, at the funeral home. Melinda was born March 20, 1955, to Sible and Houston Simmons in Canyon. She grew up in Tulia. She graduated from West Texas A&M University in 1994. She was a Special Ed teacher at La Mesa Elementary in Plainview for the past 15 years. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Bernal of Amarillo and Bobbie Waldroop of Palm Coast, Fla.; her father Houston Simmons of Tulia: three brothers, Craig Simmons of Tulia, Bentley Simmons of Tulia and John Simmons of Lubbock; one sister, Renee Simmons of Tulia; and three grandsons, Corey Waldroop of Amarillo, Joey Goddard and Maddy Goddard both of Palm Coast, Fla.
