Gordon R. Harris of Monahans, Texas went to live with his Lord on August 28, 2013. He was born to Levi and Eloise Harris in South Lyon, Michigan, May 14, 1926. Gordon enlisted in the Army in 1944, serving in the 2nd Armored Division in the campaigns of the Rhine and Central Europe. He re-enlisted and was stationed at Ft. Bliss, Texas where he met the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Audrey Ellis Harris. Gordon and Audrey made their home in Monahans, Texas for the past 53 years where he was an accomplished home builder and contractor. He supported and served in many capacities with the local VFW Post 4004. Gordon was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey. He is survived by his daughter, Christi Adams and husband Steve of Midland, Texas; his son Scott Harris and wife Marsha of Sanger, Texas; granddaughters, Cari Whitaker and husband Davlin of Stanton, Kim Kox and husband Dave of Denton, Jennifer Ragland, Stephanie Bird of Krum and Brittney Mosely and husband Greg of Ponder. He was also blessed with five great-granddaughters; Annalea, Rheagan, Jade, Zoe, Ava and six great-grandsons; Darby, Bryson, Brody, Carson, Coleby and Hunter. Gordon's family would also like to give a very special thanks to the loving and caring staff at Lamun, Lusk, Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 3rd, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans, Texas. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss Cemetery, El Paso, Texas.
