Wilbern "Terk" Peden, age 90, of Midland, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013, at home. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Sunday, November 17, 2013 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, November 18, 2013 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel in Midland with Pastor Robb Foreman, officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Lynn Creek Cemetery in Jack County, TX. Mr. Peden was born October 31, 1923 to Nora and Homer Peden in Joy, TX. He graduated from Joy High School. He served in the United States Army for three years in World War II, receiving a purple heart in the Phillipines and a bronze star for his service. He and Floretta Rhoades married on May 13, 1951 in Childress, TX. Mr. Peden's favorite hobbies were fishing and hunting. He had many friends. He loved the Lord and his church and church family at Homeline Baptist Church. He loved to sing and recite poetry. Survivors include wife, Floretta of Midland; daughter, Susan Golson and husband Tony of Midland; daughter, Dianne Scott of Midland; sister, Doris Haigood and husband Finley of Joy, TX; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
