EDWARD F. GENTILE, 89, of Myrtle Beach, SC and Hamburg, NJ died peacefully on Monday Feb 24th.
Edward was born in Paterson, NJ on May 15th 1924. He grew up in Lincoln Park, NJ and graduated from Upsala College. He married Joyce (Leyland) Gentile on June 10th 1950 and they lived in High Crest Lake, West Milford, NJ for over 40 years. They spent winters in Myrtle Beach, SC since 1989.
Edward was a proud WWII veteran. A paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division, he served in the Pacific, and received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat.
Edward was the long-time owner of Crest Plumbing and Fuel Oil of Butler, NJ. He was also an active member of the Rotary Club in Butler, NJ. An avid golfer, he was a member of Wallkill CC, Franklin, NJ.
Edward was preceded in death by his brother Eugene (Laura). He is survived by his wife Joyce and four children: daughters Gail Bosta (William) and Gina Miller (Carl) of Richmond, VA; sons Gary Gentile (Patricia) of Oak Ridge, NJ and Glen Gentile (Deborah) of Morrison, CO. Ed is also survived by his sister Joan Klein and nine beloved grandchildren.
A military funeral will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C. at a date to be determined.
