Robert Edwin Elliott 85, husband of Peggy Dow Elliott, passed away, Sunday, July 20, 2014 peacefully at home with family and friends after a long struggle with Alzheimer's. He was born October 6, 1928 in Union County, OH, son of the late Thomas and Dorothy Davids Elliott. He graduated high school in 1946, attended Ohio State University, and completed several continuing education courses throughout his forty year career in the aftermarket distribution of products to the auto and trucking industries. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and retired in 1992 after thirty years with Bendix Heavy Vehicles Systems Group. He was a United States Naval Reserve veteran and a member of the Masons including Scottish Rite. He served as past president of the Bendix Management Club. He served on the North Olmstead, OH Planning Commission, was Past President of the Republican Club and President Elect of the Kiwanis Club. He transferred with Bendix to Charlotte, NC in 1983 as Account Manager selling and servicing the company products to trucking fleets in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee and was a member of the Trucking Association in each of those states. He retired in 1994 and moved to Myrtle Beach, SC to play golf and volunteer at, Conway Medical Center, Associated Charities and Community Kitchen in Myrtle Beach. He was a member of Myrtle Beach National Golf Club and played golf with the MBN Men's Golf Association and he and Peggy were active members of First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach. Survivors include his wife, Peggy of Myrtle Beach, a daughter, Cheri and husband, Dr. Mark McLure of Raleigh, NC, two sons, Terry of Myrtle Beach, SC and Danny and his wife, Sandy of North Olmstead, OH, a sister, Betty Jean McLaughlin and husband, Charles of Marysville, OH, grandchildren, Shannon of NY, Kenny and wife, Alex of UT, Ashley and husband, Petar of OH, Andrea and husband, Dowden of OH Amanda and Shawn both of OH, great-grandchildren, Sadie, Cameron, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Xander, Kenny and Isabella, a special aunt, Maxine Bartelt and cousins John Davids and Alice Walter, plus several nieces and nephews and special friend, Ruth Wynn. A special thank you to local program director, Natalie Bankowski of the . A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday July 25, 2014 with Rev. Jonathan Harris officiating. Inurnment will be held in Union Cemetery in Columbus, OH.
