William Joseph Ahearn, 81 of Conway, formerly of Murrells Inlet died peacefully, Monday, March 31, 2014 at his home.
Born in Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary Jane Ahearn. Mr. Ahearn was a US Navy veteran serving in the Korean War and in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He was a NY State Supreme Court Clerk for 29 years before retiring in 1988. Mr. Ahearn enjoyed golfing, traveling and dancing. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
His wife, Mary Theresa, his daughter, Theresa, two sisters and five brothers all preceded him in death.
Surviving are sons, William Ahearn, Jr. (Kristy) of KY, John Ahearn of Litchfield and Robert Ahearn (Wendy) of Conway; daughters, Mary Barall (Fred) of MD, Joanne Ahearn (Scott Browning) of PA, Nancy Gornto (John) of MD, Patricia Heyse (Don) of CT, Janet Durning (Patrick) of PA, Kathleen Kroliczak (Nicholas) of VA, Rita McDonald (Dusty) and Jennifer Grant (Mark) of Murrells Inlet; 12 grandsons and 12 granddaughters; brother, Michael Ahearn (Mary) of CO and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held 10:00 AM, Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Belin United Methodist Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel with a prayer service at 6:30 PM.
A heartfelt thanks to his caregivers and all who comforted him during his illness.
