HAMBURG - Barbara Ann (Joyce) Ballantyne, 80, of Hamburg, formerly of West Paterson, passed away Feb. 10, 2014.
Born in Paterson, Mrs. Ballantyne was a resident of Paterson and West Paterson until her retirement when she moved to Hardyston. She was a data processor at United Parcel Service in Mahwah for many years before her retirement. She then went to work as a therapeutic aqua-aerobics instructor at Spa Lady in Fairfield and then at the Caldwell Community Center in Caldwell. Mrs. Ballantyne was a parishioner of Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha R.C. Church in Sparta. She was a member of the Sussex County Woman's Club, The Red Hat Society Red Crystals of McAfee and the Outdoor Singles of Morris County. Mrs. Ballantyne was predeceased by three brothers, Jack, Richard and Robert Joyce. Survivors include her devoted children, Barbara Ballantyne Froehlich and her husband, Stephen, of Sparta, James M. Ballantyne and his wife, Elizabeth, of Sparta, John J. Ballantyne and his wife, Alison, of Allamuchy, Mary Ellen Ballantyne, of Woodland Park, and Thomas R. Ballantyne, of Newton; her dear sister, Mary McGarry and her husband, Jack, of San Jose, Calif.; and five loving grandchildren, Justin Ballantyne, Eileen Froehlich, Christopher Froehlich, Julianne Froehlich and Ian Ballantyne. Funeral services will be held at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Ave., Clifton, and 10 a.m. at St. Philip the Apostle R.C. Church, 797 Valley Road, Clifton. Private cremation to follow. Visiting will be held Friday, Feb. 14, from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691; or Susan G. So sorry to hear of Barbara's passing. I will remember her warm, welcoming spirit. She was a joy to be around. My thoughts and sympathies are with you Jim, Bets, Tom and your entire family. She will be missed, but replaced with good memories.
