BOISE, IDAHO - Dr. William H. Spencer, 87, of Boise, Idaho, passed away Oct. 7, 2013. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. Michael's Cathedral, Boise, Idaho.

Born in Colquitt, Ga., to William H. Spencer and Molly Musgrove, Dr. Spencer received his B.S. from Ursinus College in 1946 and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1949. He married Jane Neff in June 1948 in Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Spencer interned at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, and served in the U.S. Navy at Coronado, Calif., during the Korean War. His residency in anesthesia was at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Spencer practiced at Orange Memorial Hospital in Orange before moving to Newton. He retired in 1986 to Boise, Idaho.

In Boise, he volunteered with the Idaho Botanical Gardens and Habitat for Humanity. Dr. Spencer was an avid golfer, as a member of Hillcrest Country Club since 1986. He attended St. Michael's Cathedral in Boise.

Dr. Spencer is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, William, Patricia and David; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
