Donald Lee Woods, 85, of Erlanger, passed away on June 11, 2014 at his residence. He was a retired Superintendent of Field Operations from Sanitation District #1 in Kentucky. Donald was a 32nd degree Mason and a three time Past Master of the Unity Lodge of Ludlow, KY, a member of the Colonel Clay Lodge No. 159, a member of the Scottish Rite in Covington, KY, and was a Kentucky Colonel for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Bromley Volunteer Fire Department, a City Judge and Council member in Bromley. He also was the coach for the first Pee Wee Football teams in Bromley. Donald was a World War II veteran and served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy on the Landing Craft Support Unit (LCS). He lied about his age and enlisted at the age of 14 years old. By the age of 15 he had endured the invasion of Okinawa. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was the son of Gilbert and Rubye Woods and the oldest of four sons. He was preceded in death by son, Russell Woods and brothers James, Richard, and Gilbert Woods. He was united in marriage to Peggy Eileen (Jones) from 1950 until her death in 1994. He remarried in 1995 to Patricia Ann (Lugara) until her death in 2006. He is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Woods of Bromley; son, Daniel Woods of Florence; three step-children, Tara Stoddard and Paul Lugara of Port St. Lucia, FL and Lisa Fansica of Miami, FL; 5 grandchildren and 4 step-grandchildren. Visitation is Friday, June 13, 2014 from 10:00AM until the hour of the Service at 12:00PM, all in Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, 316 Elm Street, Ludlow, KY 41017. Interment in Kentucky Veteran Cemetery North, Williamstown, KY. Memorial contributions suggested to Kenton County Animal Shelter, 1020 Mary Laidley Drive, Ft. Mitchell, KY 41017. Ronald B.
