Edward E. "Gene" Chatman, 83 of Fort Thomas passed away on January 31, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Fort Thomas, KY. Gene was a conductor for the C&O Railroad. Attended Immanuel Church of the Nazarene, Highland Heights. Graduate of Lewis County High School. Loved gardening, church, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. KY Colonel. US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. Born April 24, 1930 in Vanceburg, KY to the late Orville Chatman and Lottie Pollitt Chatman. He was preceded in death by his Brothers, George Martin Chatman and Charles Chatman, Sister, Naomi Evans. Survived by his Wife of 58 years, Janet (nee Fannin) Chatman of Fort Thomas, KY, Daughters, Sherrie (David) Hampton of Fort Thomas, KY, and Kathy (Carl) Bittner of Fort Thomas, KY, 4 Grandchildren, Amy (Keith), Kelly (Nathan), Kyle (Cindy), and Bryan (Kellie), also 6 Great Grandchildren. Visitation 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, February 3, 2014 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 S. Fort Thomas Ave.,Fort Thomas. Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the funeral home with Rev. Meredith Moser and Rev. Keith Raney, officiating. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate, Kentucky. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Church of the Nazarene, 33 Renshaw Road, Highland Heights, KY 41076.
