Bishop Lewis Grey Ross, 88 of Newport, Ky passed from this life Monday morning, July 22, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family, after a long battle of cancer. Lewis was born February 11, 1925 in Grassy Creek, Ky to Maude (Ferguson) and Alfonso Ross. He served in the Navy in World War II on the USS Kasaan Bay CVE 69 and finished his tour of duty as a flight engineer on a PBM patrol bomber. In his lifetime he founded and pastored numerous churches in Kentucky and Ohio. He retired from the ministry in December 2010 after 60 years of faithful service. He is survived by his wife Anna Ross of Newport, Kentucky. A daughter, Gloria South (Rick) of Dayton, Ky. A son, Buddy Ross (Marcia) of Nashville, Tn. A daughter, Patricia Beavers (Bob) of Erlanger, Ky. A daughter, Regina Terrell (Robbie) of Berea, Ky. Eight grandchildren and 12 great-granchildren. Two sisters, Betty Mortar (Dick) of Durbin, Ohio and Annetta Conkwright of Dayton, Ohio. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfonso and Maude Ross, five (5) sisters and four (4) brothers. The visitation will be Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Community Family Church, 11875 Taylor Mill Rd., Independence, Ky from 2:00pm till 7:00pm. Funeral services will begin at 7:00pm. There will be a private family interment Friday morning at Evergreen in Southgate, Ky. Grunn Funeral Home
