Morris "Chink", age 88, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 20, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Edgewood, KY. He was born on February 8, 1925 in Lily, KY and was the 3rd of 4 children born to James and Katherine Reed. He joined the Navy during WWII and served aboard the USS Long Island from 1942 to 1946. He married Martha Williams in 1947 and they made their home in Covington, KY. As a member of Latonia Baptist Church he served as a teacher, deacon, choir member and music director. For 16 years he led the singing in a weekly service at Rosedale Green, retiring last year. He also served as music director at Ashland and Madison Avenue Baptist Churches. He was an avid golfer until a fall 3 years ago. Chink is preceded in death by his parents; brother James (Mary) Reed; brother-in-law Chuck Thompson. Chink is survived by his wife, Martha Reed; sister Betty Thompson of Florida; brother and sister-in-law Walter (Wilma) Reed of Florida; daughters Rhonda (Dave) Chaffin of Friendsville, TN, Sharla (Gary) Busch of Batavia, OH and Diane (Dr. Christopher) Montgomery of Lexington, KY; grandchildren Ryan (Donna) Chaffin of Lexington, KY, Neal (Angela) Chaffin of Friendsville, TN, Shelly, Christine and Steve, Chad (Maria) Busch of Batavia, OH, Andy, Erin and Audra Montgomery of Lexington, KY; great grandchildren include Chloe and Claire Chaffin of Friendsville, TN, De`Andre, Cameron, Elijah, and Carter Busch of Batavia, OH; nieces and nephews include Karen Sue (Terry) Roberts of Hebron, KY, Judy (James) Dolwick of Hebron, KY, Peggy Reed, Tim Reed and Glenda Sue, Paula (Butch) West of Florida, Sandra (Jim) Combs of Florida, Butch (Judy) Reed of Dayton, OH, Lisa (Steve) Crosby of Florida, Kathy (Peter) Doby of Virginia, Mark (Donna) Thompson of Florida and many, many good long-time friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23 at 10 AM with services following at 1 PM with Reverend Dr. Dan Francis officiating all at SWINDLER & CURRIN FUNERAL HOME, LATONIA.
