DONALD P. VINCENT, SR. Born: March 25, 1926; Gary, IN Died: March 5, 2014; McHenry Donald P. Vincent Sr., age 87, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the home of his daughter in McHenry. He was born March 25, 1926 in Gary, IN to Clarence and Frances (Wagner) Vincent. Donald graduated from Emerson High School and received his engineering degree from Purdue University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946, and in the USN Reserve Seabees from 1967 to 1977. Donald was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus in Wheeling and Monroe, WI. On July 25, 1947, he married Helen S. Rayson. After Helen passed away in 1998, he married Susan M. Christiansen in 2000. Don loved reading mysteries and was an avid computer gamer. He was a passionate fan of NASCAR, the Bears, the Chicago Blackhawks, and FOX News. In addition to his wife, Susan, who resides in Austin, TX, he is survived by his children, Barbara (Carmen) Colella of McHenry, William (Kathleen) Vincent of Sherburn in Elmet, UK, Russell Vincent of Crofton, MD, Micki (Bob) Amsler of Center Hill, FL, Matthew (Sheryl) Vincent of Monroe, WI, and Christopher (Mary Ellen) Vincent of Tucson, AZ; 16 grandchildren, John (Christy) Vincent, Rebekah Vincent, Donald Vincent III, Kate Larson, Kevin Larson, Spencer Vincent, Shawn Vincent, Lorna (Paul) Craven, Michelle Bowers, Gwendolyn Hurt, Sarah Vincent, Dara (Jesse) Keyes, Krystine Vincent, David Hankley, Brea Hankley, Taylor (Courtney) Vincent; 17 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Shirley Zaideman, Kathleen (Ed) Hills, and Madelene Collins. In addition to his first wife, Helen, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald P. Vincent Jr. and a daughter, Frances Kaye Vincent. Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe, WI. A graveside service with military honors is being planned to take place in early summer. Arrangements were entrusted to Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry.
