Florence Tessendorf Obituary
Florence S. Tessendorf Born: May 22, 1924; Chicago, IL Died: Jan. 14, 2014; Woodstock,IL Florence S. Tessendorf, 89, of Crystal Lake, passed away peacefully Tuesday January 14, 2014 at Hearthstone Communities Woodstock, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 22, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of the late Charles F. and Mae (nee Mayer) Svejcar. Florence grew up in Crystal Lake, and graduated in 1942 from Crystal Lake High School. She married the late George A. Tessendorf on July 12, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake. For most of Florence 's adult life, she was a resident of Marengo, IL. She was a former member of the Marengo VFW Post Auxiliary. The work she most enjoyed was that of wife, mother, and grandmother. Florence also loved to travel with her friends, embraced life and loved to spend time with her grandsons at their sporting events. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Florence is survived by two children, Merri-lynne (Steven) Seaburg of Marengo and Kirk (Kathryn) Tessendorf of Union Grove, WI. Three grandsons, Ryan (Sarah) Seaburg of LaPorte, IN, Bradley (Dorothy) Seaburg of Huntley, and Wade (Tara) Seaburg of Lafayette, IN. Ten great grandchildren, Jay, Grant, Halle, Brady, Peyton, Sofia, Kane, Sam, Charlie, and George. Two sisters-in-law, Beatrice (Frank) Nickels and Suzanne Svejcar; as well as, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and step mother, Alice (nee Bartram) Svejecar; her husband, George in 1987; a brother, Carl N. Svejcar; and a brother-and sister in-law, Robert (Martha) Tessendorf. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Friday Jan. 17, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church, 412 Jackson Marengo, IL 60152, and on Saturday from 10:00 AM, until the time of service at 11:00. Interment will be in Marengo City Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to Zion Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Fredrick Funeral Home, Hampshire. 847-683-2711
