John J. Endean Jr., age 79, of McHenry, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at JourneyCare in Woodstock.
He was born September 1, 1934, in Chicago to John Joseph Sr. and Bernadette V. (Duffy) Endean. On March 6, 1955, he married June M. Hegwood in Yuma, Arizona.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War.
He was employed as a service manager at Sessler Ford in Libertyville, where he worked for over 20 years. During his leisure time, he loved to go camping with his grandchildren. Another enjoyment was watching football games, with his favorite teams being the Chicago Bears, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, as well as Navy Midshipman.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, June; three children, John III (Laurie) Endean of Phoenix, David W. Endean of McHenry, and Mary E. (James Jr.) Curran of McHenry; seven grandchildren, Nick (Dina), Brian (Michelle), Rebecca (Aaron), Candace (Jason), Cassandra (Steve), Christine (Matt), and Corie (Bert); five great-grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Chloe, Izak, and Giana, and four more great-grandchildren on the way; a sister, Nancy (the late Dusty) Tokuda of Yuma, Arizona; and two half-sisters, Debbie (Dan Brovarey) Endean and Dawn Endean.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Margo, two brothers, Dickie and Artie; and two sisters, Virginia and Mary Elizabeth.
A private visitation and funeral Mass for his family is planned, with interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, McHenry.
