ANDREW A. ATTAR CROWN POINT, IN

Andrew A. Attar, age 84 of Crown Point, formerly of Merrillville, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 52 1/2 years, Judi (nee Bonahoom); five children: Andy (Kari) Attar of WI, Jeff Attar of IL, Jodi Attar of Crown Point, Scott Attar of IL, and Jennifer Attar of AZ; seven grandchildren: Kelsi, Adam, Jacob, Kory, and Alex Attar, and Collin and Kirstin Gee Attar; two brothers: Warren (Kay) Attar of LaPorte, Keith (Sandy) Attar of Michigan City; two sisters: Virginia (late Goth) Wilkins of LaPorte and Kathleen Hannah of Canada; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sister, Phyllis . Mr. Attar was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a former member of S.S. Peter & Paul and Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Churches. He was a graduate of Elston High School in Michigan City and then served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Andrew was a retired State Farm Insurance agent with 36 years of service and a former employee from Kroger Grocery. Andy was also a member of the Evening Lions Club of Merrillville, St. Anthony's Maronite Society, and was a past-president of AAA at Andrean High School. Family and friends may call at the Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (6360 Broadway, Merrillville) on Friday from 2:00-8:00 P.M. with a family rosary at 7:30 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 12:15 P.M. from Pruzin Brothers Chapel and 1:00 P.M. from St. Mary Catholic Church (321 Joliet St., Crown Point) with Rev. Pat Kalich officiating. Cremation will follow the mass and he will be laid to rest at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery in Crown Point.
