ANDREW J. PORVAZNIK HAMMOND (HESSVILLE), IN

Andrew J. Porvaznik, age 84 of Hessville, passed away March 19, 2013 He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jennie; children: Janice (David) Kalet of Westmont IL, Michael Porvazink of Schaumburg IL, Andrew Porvaznik Jr. of Hammond, Thomas Porvaznik of Martinsville, IN, and Mary Kay (Frank) Santaquilani of Lowell; grandchildren: David, Gina, and Peter; sister-in-law, Mary (late John) Pitula; numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his brothers and sisters. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Ave., Hessville with Fr. Charles Mosley officiating. Andrew will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. At rest St. John Cemetery Hammond. Friends may visit with the family Friday, March 22, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville. Andrew was a lifelong area resident and member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish since 1957. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of American Legion Post 369. Andrew was a proud Union man, retiring from Lever Brothers as a computer operator with 34 years of service. He was a self-taught, highly motivated man who cherished the time spent with his family and enjoyed dancing and photography.
