BETH SHUBAIR (NEE CHELLBERG) CHESTERTON, IN
Beth Shubair (nee Chellberg) of Chesterton, passed away at La Porte Hospital in La Porte, IN on February 20, 2014. She was 72. Beth was born in Gary, IN on September 18, 1941 to Arthur and Dorothy (Borg) Chellberg. She was a lifelong resident of the Porter and Chesterton area and graduated from Chesterton High School in 1959. Beth married her ex-spouse, Awni Shubair, in 1970 and from that union came children: Amy, David, Jeana, Jason, and Julie. After attending Indiana University, Beth worked for Fortune Magazine in Chicago before putting her career on hold to stay at home and raise her children. For the past 18 years, she was employed with the Purdue Cooperative Extension Office in Valparaiso. Beth was a lifelong member of Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church. She enjoyed volunteering at the Chellberg Farm; telling stories of her Swedish ancestors and community who lived in the Bailytown, Chesterton, and Porter areas; and most importantly spending time with cherished family and friends. Beth was an absolutely devoted mother who was always committed and nurturing to those close to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Amy Shubair; and son, Jason Shubair. Beth is survived by her son, David of Chesterton; daughters: Jeana (Ryan) Tonk and Julie (Justin) Camer of Michigan City; grandchildren: Grace Estill-Shubair of Valparaiso and Audrey Camer of Michigan City; sister, Karen (Robert) Petry of Norman, OK; nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Augsburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 N. Mineral Springs Road, Porter, IN with Pastor Erik Bernth officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Porter County
