BETTY JEAN (RAY) NACARATO BRENTWOOD, TN Betty Jean (Ray) Nacarato, age 82, of Brentwood, TN, formerly of the Gary/Merrillville area, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born August 18, 1930 to the late Joseph and Catherine Ray in Gary, IN. She was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School and attended Indiana University. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers: Joe and John Ray; sisters: Catherine Ray and Thelma Rasch. She is survived by her husband, Mike Nacarato of 61 years who she loved and adored. Betty was also a devoted and most loving mother of seven children: Mary (Ed) Daily of St. John, IN, Valerie Daley, Mike (Teresa) Nacarato, Jr., Lisa (Bud) Curtis, Joe (Beth) Nacarato, Ruthie (Bill) Green, Tom Nacarato, of the Nashville, TN area; 14 grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Charles Ray of New Jersey; sisters: Dorothy Mitchell of Kansas, Virginia (Ray) Hrezo of Hobart, and Helen Willing of Valparaiso; sisters-in-law: Rosemary (Lou) Genduso, Tina Costas, and Mary Ray; brother-in-law, Robert (Cheryl) Nacarato; numerous and loved nieces and nephews. Betty passionately fought for the sanctity of life of the unborn child through her time and efforts at Tennessee Right for Life, as well as Tennessee Volunteers for Life. She was a member and volunteer at St. Henry, St. Matthew and Corpus Christi Catholic Churches. Betty also enjoyed spending time oil painting, playing cards, and caring for her beloved family. Her sense of humor added many laughs and enjoyment to family gatherings. She will be truly missed by all who loved her dearly. A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 17, 2013 from 3:30-8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home and Thursday from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at the church.
